MP3 recordings with a classic pedigree and a percussive delivery on steel drums and marimba. A great deal of classical music comes from an obvious dance background like Chopin's Mazurkas and some was written to provide music to dance to like the polkas and waltz's of Strauss, the Ragtime Dance of Scott Joplin and the Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky which was commissioned for a ballet.

Ragtime Dances

These dances have been arranged on different combinations of steel drums, gamelan gongs and marimbas.
Joplin's page includes our recordings of some of his ragtime dances . We also have a new collection of Gamelan Ragtime Dances by various composers where the gamelan gongs are contrasted with marimba and other percussion sounds.
