Joseph Haydn's Violin Concerto in G Major  Allegro movement has been arranged on  Marimba, Steel Drums and Vibraphone which  brings out the rhythmic character of the piece.  We have now added the second movement  (Adagio) of the Cello Concerto where the  vibraphone is replaced by a gamelan and the  cello part is carried on the Ocarina. Cello  Concerto 2nd Movement (Adagio) A delicate,  stately piece where the Cello is replaced by an  Ocarina and the Steel Drums, Gamelan and  Marimba stand in for the orchestra.  Johann Nepomuk Hummel's Aire Variations  and Finale Rhapsodique show the influence of  Mozart on his pupil in this piano piece which is  transcribed here  on to Celtic Harp and Steel  Drums for extra dramatic effect. Aram Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance from his  ballet Gayane is probably his most popular  piece and is arranged here on our accustomed  percussion combination with Ocarina and Harp.    Fritz Kreisler's Liebesfreud (Love's Joy) is a  charming piece originally composed for violin  and piano in the Viennese style that is  transcribed here on Harp and Steel Drums. Jules Massenet’s Meditation on Thais is an  intermezzo from his opera Thais originally  composed for solo violin and orchestra and  played between acts. But in this arrangement  the violin part is taken by a pan flute and the  Harp is given extra prominence above the  percussion orchestra. Johann Pachelbel’s Canon was originally  arrange for three violins and a basso continuo  and here the violins are replaced by steel drums  and the continuo part is taken by a combination  of ocarina, gamelan and marimba. Pachelbel   was one of JC Bach’s teachers and may have  composed this for his wedding.  Paderewski’s Minuete a l’antique in G, Op  14_1, is the piece that established his  international reputation. The piano score is re-  arranged on our established combination of  steel drums, gamelan and marimba augmented  on this occasion by a sustaining synthesiser.
Sergei Prokofiev’s Toccatta Opus 11 is  rendered here on a combination of Steel  Drums, Gamelan and Marimba. Robert Schumann's Toccata in C Major Op 7   is a wonderfully tuneful exposition of  counterpoint reminiscent of the best of Bach  and it works really well on a combination of  vibes with steel drums and bass.   Jean Sibelius’ Symphonies are the core of his  work and we just have the first movement   from his Second Symphony and Finlandia.    Both are relatively early works around the turn  of the century and are arranged here on our  New World Percussion Orchestra. Louis Vierne’ s Organ Smphony No1 Finale is  arranged here on Vibraphone, Steel Drums  Marimba and ocarinas in both the right and left  hand parts. He had been an assistant to Widor  you can hear some similarities but this is a  uniquely refreshing piece. Carl Maria von Weber's  Hungarian Andante  and Rondo for Bassoon and Orchestra is  rendered here by a synthesized Moog  xylophone/marimba combination taking the  bassoon part and steel drums with the  orchestral part and highlights the rhythmic  playful aspects of this piece. His Rondo  Brilliante lives up to its name in sparkling  fashion in this arrangement of harp and vibes  with steel drums.   Charles-Marie Widor's Fifth Organ  Symphony Toccata  is presented with an  unusual xylophone/marimba duo in the lead  supported by steel drums and a bass ocarina  replacing the pedal reed organ. This takes the  music right out of the church for which it was  composed and into the sunshine of the  Caribbean. Richard Wagner’s The Ride of the Valkyries   from Act three of the Walkure which is the  second of the four operas in the Ring Cycle.  This is a very well known piece and was used  unforgettably as the accompaniment for a  helicopter gunship attack in the film  Apocalypse Now.
