First Download iTunes
The latest version - iTunes 6.0 is available for free download from Apple on their iTunes Download page for both PC and Mac and can be installed in the usual way.
This software not only gives access to the iTunes Online Store but also enables MP3s and some other music formats already present on your PC to be transferred to your iPod.

You can choose from Tchaikovsy's Russian Dance from the Sugar Plumb Fairy Suite or Kinderstück by Felix Mendelsohn or take both and save them in a My Documents folder where they can easily be found.
Third Import music MP3 into iTunes
Once you have iTunes up and running open the main window, then open the directory window containing your copy of our music MP3s and then click and drag them to the iTunes jukebox window. You can then use the iTunes features to load them onto your iPod.
With iTunes you get a digital jukebox for your computer, a podcast search engine, as well as access to the iTunes online store and the iPod tranfer facilities.

iTunes Alternatives
There is some software around which will also move your music from PC to iPod and back again. ephPod2 is donation ware so you contibute if you like it and would like to encourage further development. Or there is anaPod which is a straightforward commercial software application. We haven't tested them but they look quite reasonable bets and are probably a bit more flexible than iTunes in some respects.
Recording Quality
We make digital recordings of our arrangements and then compress them in iPod music MP3 format without the usage restrictions. All the iPod music download files for sale on this site are all sampled at 48k Hertz and encoded at 192k bits per second - slightly better than a CD. This makes for rather large files but we feel it is worth it. You can hear the audio quality and get an idea of the quality of our arrangements from the free samples mentioned earlier on this page.
