Toccata (from the Italian toccare, "to touch") areclosely associated in most people's minds withfugues played on the Organ and so it has beena revelation to us how well they respond to anew world percussion treatment. But JS Bachcomposed his Toccata Nos 1 - 7 for theHarpsichord and they too respond well to ourpercussion treatments as does Schumann’spiano composition in toccata form. Our onlyexample from the organ repertoire in thiscollection is the famous Widor Toccata from his5th Symphony for Organ much used atweddings.
