Beethoven Symphonies are

consistently our most

Popular Downloads:

It was with considerable trepidation that I approached the third and fifth Beethoven Symphonies but as you can hear the application of New World percussion and wood wind instrumentation to these revered classics has produced some interesting and entertaining effects.  The Eroica was originally dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte. It was a ground breaking symphony - much longer than most of it's predecessors with Europe wide warfare as a dominant theme. The Fifth Symphony is seen as a central part of Beethoven's work and our interpretation brings out the delicate rhythmic developments which play such a strong role in this symphony. They have been so popular that I decided to complete the set.  This has meant tackling several slow movements which required the use of additional instruments to sustain the longer notes. In the case of the Choral Symphony the 4th movement required the use of synthetic voices for the soloists and the choir. Other people have inserted musical instruments for these parts but I think that the solution used here conveys the feeling of the work better. It also illustrates the relationship between the voices and the orchestra well. It is far and away the most complex arrangement I have attempted to date. I should also acknowledge the extraordinary work done by the MIDI coders who placed their work in the public domain in the 1990s and allowed me to tackle this task:  Peter Parkanyi, Michael A Abelson, G Breed and DL Viens Click Beethoven for more of his recordings.
