This modest selection of original arrangements of his work is comprised of the overtures from three of his thirty nine operas and one solo. He had a prolific career until he retired in 1829 (in his late thirties) producing operas which are still favourites today. We have arranged the overtures on our percussion based New World orchestra comprised of Steel Drum and Marimba for strings, ocarina and pan flute for woodwind and vibraphone (augmented by the Gamelan in Thieving Magpie) for the brass section and it seems to work well with these rhythmic tuneful pieces. Overture to Il Signor Bruschino (or the accidental son) Overture to The Thieving Magpie (La Gazza Ladra) Overture to The Barber of Seville (or The Useless Precaution) Factotum Solo (Largo Factotum) from The Barber of Seville where the piano transcription accompaniment is rendered on a Steel Drums, Gamelan, Marimba combination and the solo is delivered by an Ocarina.
