This is a small selection of MP3 recordings of classical songs. It may seem a bit odd to highlight the presence of MP3 songs on an instrumental music site but as it happens a number of classical songs have proved to be surprisingly effective when arranged on new world percussion instruments. Some like Ave Maria and Debussy's Serenade for a Doll already have strong instrumental development, while others like the Hallelujah Chorus are a bit more of a surprise. In a way Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words only slip into this category by virtue of their title but they are nice anyway.

Classical Songs on New World Percussion

As with the rest of the collection these pieces have been rearranged sympathetically on New World Percussion instruments -steel drums, vibraphone and marimba accompanied by a range of harps, ocarinas, pan flutes and a few synthesizers:
Gounod - Ave Maria Debussy - Serenade for a Doll Handel - Hallelujah Chorus Mendelssohn - Opus 102 No 5 'Kinderstück'  Mendelssohn - Opus 62 No 2 "Spring Song"
