A musical Suite or Partita generally refers to a set of instrumental pieces grouped together for orchestral performance. Initially this often referred to a set of dances sometimes introduced with an overture or prelude but laterly it was interpreted more broadly to include pieces linked thematically in some way such as Holst’s Planets Suite. In this selection from suites we have examples ranging from the Baroque, through the Impressionist to modern 20th century compositions. They have all been re-arranged on our palette of New World percussion instruments - supplemented in some cases by Harps, Ocarinas and occasionally synthesisers.P Tchaikovsky Nutcracker SuiteMiniature OvertureMarchDance of the Sugar-Plum FairyRussian Dance (Trepak)Arabian Dance (Coffee)Chinese Dance (Tea)Dance of the Reed PipesWaltz of the Flowers
