One-step, two-step and Cakewalk and possiblyeven the reel are expected ragtime danceformats but Eygiptia and Dublin Daisies are arather more unusual. These MP3 recordings are based on MIDItranscriptions of the original sheet music mostof which was published ten years either side of1900 in the USA. Many of the transcriptions inthis selection were produced by John Cowelland have been put into the public domainwithout restrictions on their use. Thearrangements use a digital sample basedversion of the Indonesian Gamelan togetherwith a selection of digital Marimbas. Throughtrial and error a consistent set up wasdeveloped and then adapted for eachrecording. We have sought to emphasise thecontrast between the two voices of the pianomusic whilst emphasising the rhythmic content.
